Secret boyfriend?

I have broken a taboo.

I watched Saturday Night Live.

I had an excellent excuse: Neil Patrick Harris. Have I ever told you that I love him? Probably not. His appearance as Dr. Horrible last July made me turn in to a bit of a NPH fan girl. (I bought the Assassins soundtrack on iTunes primarily because he sings on it.) Seriously, he's up there with Johnny Depp. (This is kind of a scary thing, friends.) I'm going to have to find a cardboard cutout of Neil as well.

The reason SNL is such a taboo for me is that in recent years it has come to be the most un-funny-yet-trying-to-be-funny thing on the planet. I think they try too hard. I mean really, is there still a writer's strike or something? Their sketches are awful.

But Neil, oh Neil. He made SNL worth breaking taboo watching. Admittedly, the funniest bit of the show was the "Digital Short". (Was there really anything digital about it? Do they film it ahead of time and just call it "digital"? That's kind of a cop-out if you ask me. Which you didn't.) Doogie Howser theme for the win. And did you see that Neil was playing? I love that he can play the piano. (Let's have a moment of silence for some fan girl squee, shall we?)

Ok, back to business. Something that really irritated me about SNL (aside from the un-funny sketches and scenes that drag on too long [like that dreadful Penelope tripe — what was that?]) was Taylor Swift. I've heard her music on the radio, but when it comes to watching her perform, I'm confused. Why is she holding a guitar? She strums two chords and is done with it. Guitars are not accessories, music industry! Bah.

That's all she wrote, for now. I went through the yarn stash last weekend, and there are photos. Scared yet?

Ouch.*

Due to some unintentional ice acrobatics last night, my right leg now looks as though I've strapped a crooked shinguard just below my knee. (And I'll have you know that I have, in fact, worn shinguards in real life, although I haven't played soccer since about eighth grade.)

Also, my throat feels as though I swallowed a small, thorny succulent and chased it with malt vinegar or something equally dreadful.

Oh, and it's snowing again. Winter is not my favorite season.

*Did I ever tell you that my first word was "ouch"? It was.

Snow, snow, snow, snow

Another Monday and guess what? It's snowing. This is becoming a very regular thing this winter, and I don't like it. I don't think I've seen my driveway since November. (Of course, this causes less of a problem than you might think, as I don't own a car.)

What else do I know? I signed up for Melaleuca last week. I'm supposed to have gotten my first order today, though I haven't been home yet. UPS says it's been delivered, at any rate. I ordered some vitamins, some nutrition bars, some tooth polish, and a few other cool things. I'm pretty pumped, particularly about the vitamins. I'll try to post a review soon.

I started reading Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk last week. It's pretty ... whacked out and creepy. Par for his stuff, really. I'm enjoying it so far. I finished The Lair of the White Worm by Bram Stoker last week. I downloaded it from Librivox.org, which is a fantastic site for obtaining audio versions of books in the public domain, or when the copyright has expired.

Snow continues to fall. Rather quickly, too.

All squirmy inside

Every time I see an ad for Sweeney Todd on the television I get a little giddy. It makes me feel all squirmy inside. (Maybe that's a little TMI.) I can't wait to see the movie.

Speaking of television, this new show Tin Man is starting on SciFi this Sunday. It's supposed to be all Oz-a-rific, The Wizard of Oz turned on its head in a different sort of way than Wicked. I'm kind of pumped because both Zooey Deschanel and Alan Cumming are on Tin Man. And as everyone knows, we — the hip, cool and groovy cats I hang with — used to toast to Alan Cumming.

Also, the office stinks. Reeks, even. See, there was an old gas station on the northeast corner of the block we're on. Its latest incarnation, up until July, was an ISP. Anyway, the building had to be torn down because the soil underneath was contaminated from all the gas. Well, the county tore down the building in early October, maybe late September, and the ground sat there all muddy and forlorn looking until this week; they finally started digging up the contaminated soil.

It smells disgusting, kind of like rubber cement but really it's diesel. It seeps into everything. I can even smell it when I walk outside my house, which is five blocks away. It disgusts me. I hope the smell is gone soon, as it's kind of hard to work when your office smells like ass pieces. I feel bad for the vet I take my cats to, though, because his office is right next to where they're digging. It's got to be 1,000 times worse inside. Bleh.

Anyhow, I'm off, as I just got paid and must deposit my moneys in the scum-sucking hole bank. Cheerio, and Alan Cumming to you all!
